The Alumni Relations office, on behalf of Illinois State University, manages the online presence of Illinois State via the popular online social networking communities MySpace, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
Find us online and join our network and connect with other Illinois State alumni, students, and friends!
How to connect to these profiles
MySpace
The MySpace profile is viewable to the public by following the link above. Folks interested in “befriending” Reggie, will need to create their own MySpace profile. To do so:
1)Visit www.myspace.com
2)Complete the sign-up instructions on the next screen
3)Skip the opportunities to invite new members (unless you desire for an invite to be sent electronically to everyone in your e-mail list)
4)Follow the prompts to verify your e-mail address
5)Set-up your profile, and begin looking for friends by using the “search” button on the top navigation bar
6)You can find Reggie Redbird by searching for his name
7)Click to view his profile.
8)In the “Contacting Reggie Redbird” box, select “Add to Friends”
9)Reggie will receive an e-mail letting him know that there is a new friend request. As soon as he approves the request, you will be mutual friends and will appear in each other’s friends listing.
Facebook
Reggie’s Facebook profile is not viewable to the public like the MySpace profile.
To see his profile, you will need to register with Facebook. To do so:
1)Visit www.facebook.com
2)Select the green “sign-up” button and complete the information request
3)If you have an @ilstu.edu e-mail address, select “I am: in college/graduate school” – this will allow you to connect directly with the Illinois State Facebook network. If you do not have an @ilstu.edu e-mail address, continue registering.
4)Confirm your e-mail address
5)Build your profile
6)On the top left corner, there is a “search” box. Type in Reggie Redbird. You’ll see Reggie’s official profile listing him as a member of the Illinois State alum network.
7)If you are a member of the Illinois State network, you can select to “view his profile”, and/or select to “add to friends”
8)Reggie will receive an e-mail letting him know that there is a new friend request. As soon as he approves the request, you will be mutual friends and will appear in each other’s friends listing.
*You do not have to be in the Illinois State network to be one of Reggie’s friends. Any Facebook member may request to be his friend.
LinkedIn
The Alumni Association has just created a presence on the career networking site, LinkedIn.com. Alumni are invited to create a connection with Reggie Redbird and join the Alumni Association Group affiliated with the Reggie Redbird profile. The online network is intended to create professional career connections that will provide opportunities for furthering one’s career and that of others. Once you have created a profile on LinkedIn, you may request a membership in the Illinois State University Alumni Association either through Reggie Redbird's profile, or Annette Levitt's.
